Kid's perspective
Today, I read the love letter to my religion classes. We were discussing the seven deadly sins. One of the students asked why lust is a deadly sin. Now, while the eighth grader was mildly confused as to what "deadly" really meant, she didn't understand why lust would really damage one's relationship with God. I logged into the blog and read the students the prayer. The young girl still was astonished at the end of the prayer. She said to me, "Ms. Thomas, is that really true? Does God really have someone created for everyone?" It's so sad to know that even at thirteen-years-old, young women doubt that God will create someone for them. So...for doubters, I choose to quote the wonderful FJ (Father Jim), "If you've always did what you've always done; than you'll always get what you've always got." Doubting that God will give us someone to love in the flesh or (like me) doubting He will give me what I want when I want it...it's just going to bring us exactly what we've gotten. Instead, if I keep praying and keep making changes in my relationship to bring us closer to God, I need to make the change.

I think on that quote from FJ often. Sometimes, I think that I am sitting at a standstill and I need to follow that advice way more. As someone who is not big on keen changes, I have always stuck with what is comfortable. I need to reach out of that comfort zone and make a change in my life...for the better. As you said, it is amazing how girls this young are already doubting themselves. They are beautiful children of God and need to recognize that everyday. We need to extend the faith and love we experienced at the women's retreat to all women and young girls around us. We have to be the example for them.
