A friend of mine sent me this Mother Teresa quote at the same time that she sent me the Love letter from God. It was February of my Junior year of college. I had met who I thought was God's gift to me. He was my prince. He prayed with me every night...I mean, of COURSE that's who God sent me! It turns out that just because a man goes to Mass and prays with you, does not mean he is the person God sent you.
Now, three years later, I am in the beginning of my adult life, teaching and molding young minds and I have a whole different mind set for this prayer. Today, I focus on the following line: I want you to stop planning, stop wishing, and allow Me to give you the most thrilling plan existing... one that you cannot even imagine. I want you to have the best!
I am now in a very fulfilling relationship. My boyfriend of two and a half years is an amazing man. I have been bugging him about our future for the past year or so. We are positive that we are going to marry, but he thinks quite a bit about logic and money, while I think much more about the fantasy of marriage. I haven't told him this and I'm not going to, but I'm giving up asking about a ring/wedding. I've found that looking at what other people have and wanting what they have has gotten me further away from our ultimate covenant with God.
In turn, he and I will be reading a prayer to one another every night at the end of our phone calls. I'm going to need a lot of strength to get through this, so your kind prayers and support will be greatly appreciated. Thank you for sharing this beautiful and spiritual experience with me.
Thank you for sharing. I'm excited to see how God will bring you closer together throughout this Lent. I can completely relate to wanting what you don't have. I need to stop planning for myself, and let God plan for me.
